As per the title of this blog post, I’ve got some HUGE news – I’m working on a book! For those who follow me on Instagram, you will already be aware that I have been working on a Christian non-fiction book called “The Lord’s Prayer As A Way of Life” (subtitle – Turning Jesus’s Prayer into Your Daily Practice).
It is a practical, theologically rich exposition of the Lord’s Prayer and how its phrases speak directly to our daily lives. Using Scripture, personal reflection and engaging illustrations, the book invites us to live out these familiar words daily — enjoying God as Father, hallowing His Name, forgiving others and seeking and sharing God’s kingdom (through evangelism).
So why did I write this book?
Well, as I studied and reflected on the Lord’s Prayer, it became evident to me that this short, powerful prayer showed God’s wonderful, fatherly nature and covered key aspects of the Christian life. The prayer opens with an affirmation of His character as Father and shows His transcendence (in “Heaven”). It covers the need for us to treat God with reverence and desire EVERYONE to revere Him (e.g. “Hallowed by Thy Name”). It highlights our need to submit to His ways and pray for the world to do so (“Your Kingdom Come”, “Your Will be done…”). It also points to aspects of God’s Fatherhood like His provision (“Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread”) and His protection (“Lead Us Not Into Temptation…”).
I thought this prayer shouldn’t just be recited – but that was also a strong template help us all to grow deeper in our faith and intimacy with God. So began my journey of research, brainstorming, prayer and writing over roughly a 2 year period to bring this book to you! I’m excited about it and hope you all find it encouraging, enlightening and challenging (in the best possible ways). Please PRAY for the book to be successfully published and that it blesses everyone who reads it.
